Left to right: site preparation and base formation, sensor insertion into PE tube, cable protection installation, backfilling and surface levelling.

1. Pre-installation inspection

Before installation, confirm that the sensor appearance is clean and undamaged. Ensure all components are complete and intact.

2. Base preparation

At the installation location, prepare a bedding layer of fine sand or gravel with a minimum thickness of 50 cm. The actual composition (fine sand, gravel, or a combination) can be adjusted according to site conditions.

3. Sensor installation

  • Insert the sensor into a PE protective tube (recommended diameter ϕ40 mm, without wheels).
  • [Optional] Apply a thin layer of lubricating oil to the sensor surface to ease insertion and allow the sensor to slide smoothly inside the tube during ground movement.

4. Cable protection

Route the sensor cable through a PE protection tube to prevent mechanical damage during backfilling or subsequent construction.

5. Backfilling

Cover the installed sensor with fine sand or gravel backfill of at least 50 cm thickness, compacted and leveled to form a stable protective layer.

6. Construction safety

Once backfilling is complete, normal construction can resume. The protective layers will prevent damage to the sensor.
